The days sort of blend together for some reason from Cadaques on, perhaps I am not taking as good of notes as I have before and struggle with the details and order of things.  But my time in Cadaques was spent working, just wandering the hilly narrow stoned streets of the village and along the waterfront along with meeting some new friends and a beautiful hike.

On my second evening in Cadaques I returned to Brown Sugar after dinner and had a glass of wine with my book.  It was fairly busy, partly due to a massive rain storm that brought people indoors instead of strolling along the waterfront. As various people rushed in to get out of the rain, I had a seat right at the door to see the comings and goings.  After a bit, a woman and man around my age dashed in and immediately struck up a conversation.  They both had been living in Spain, Barcelona, for a handful of years but she was originally from Ireland and he from London so having a conversation with them in England was a welcome treat.  We got on fabulously and drank copious amounts of white wine together laughing and watching the rain and listening to the good music the bar had going.  They mentioned that they were going kayaking the next day and I of course, invited myself along telling them that I actually had just been googling kayaking that morning.  They were gracious enough to let me tag along and we agreed that when we had all slept off the effects of all the wine we would meet for breakfast/lunch and then go kayaking.  We stayed until the bar was closing down and luckily both found our way back to our respective hotels.

It was noon before we all felt well enough to step out into the day and I met up with Siobhan and Richard at a café for a bite to eat.  They decided to go hair of the dog and already had a beer and a glass of wine on the table.  I was not feeling so bold so I originally stuck with a coke. We lingered there for a bit then made the walk to the neighboring harbor town, Port Lligit,to the kayaking rental place.

Next to the kayaking rental place was an outdoor bar/restaurant so of course we stopped there first.  As we lingered with our drinks, I saw what looked like a very large hairy… thing… walk by right next to the tables at the cafe. My mind immediately went to wolf for some reason, maybe because I didn’t get a great look at it, but as we noticed everyone getting out their cameras and watching this thing, I stood up and there was a wild boar right outside the cafe.

After several rounds of beer, Siobhan walked over to the kayak rental kiosk only to find it closed.  It was now about 3:00pm so we asked our cute waiter what the deal was and he said they had closed for the day because they thought a storm was coming in and were not going to be doing rentals any more that day.  Kayaking was just not meant to be for me it seemed.  So we ate and drank some more and I decided that I needed a nap so we said our goodbyes not sure if we would be seeing each other later as they were both leaving the next day.  We exchanged info and I feel like I gained two more friends from around the world.

I went back to my room to take a nap and only just woke up to go get dinner and go back to bed.  I had googled other things to do in the area and decided upon a long hike out to the far end of the peninsula to the lighthouse the following day.
