Treat yo-self – Girona, Spain

Because I missed out on the kayaking and had some time to spare, I decided I would treat myself and I was inspired by the tour of the ancient bathhouse the other day.  I have gone to several bathhouses/hammams/spas in various countries and I am a big fan. So I looked online and they did have an Arab bath type spa in Girona but I could not make an online reservation for the next day – they only took online reservations 48 hours or more in advance.  So I walked to the spa , Aqua Banys, and asked if they had time later in the afternoon and the first availability they had was for 10am the next morning.  Done- I made my reservation for what they called the Thermal cycle and Mediterranean ritual which included a massage and essential oils along with use of the various temperature baths, steam room,salt sauna,etc.  I was still in a mood to treat myself so I then found a nail salon and got myself a pedicure as my last pedicure was over a month ago and I had blue polish on them that really looked atrocious as my toenails were growing out.  They were very nice and I ended up with a nice pink neutral color so that when they grow out again, it is less noticible.  I am sure they have fancy places to get your nails done but it does not appear as if the massage chairs with the built in foot bath are common in the nail salons and the price was about what you would pay in the US depending on where you go, maybe a little less.
