I took this journey because I did not know what else to do.  I have no itinerary and no return ticket.  I simply plan on traveling around Europe until I run out of money or the 3 month tourist visa expires, whichever comes first.  Trying to rebuild my previous life of a full time job and finding a house to rent, all to simply put me to where I started seemed depressing.  I needed to make this abrupt change of plans be worth something.  And I figured I would not likely have this opportunity again.  An opportunity of a part time job I could do from anywhere with a company that gave me almost complete freedom and having no possessions to speak of to create a new home – no dishes, furniture, linens.  All I had was a few boxes of clothes and keepsakes that were stored safely at my parents home in Michigan.  I will fill in more backstory and other travels later but I wanted to try to keep somewhat up to date info on my current travels.  I have contemplated for a while about doing what I have coined “freestyle travel”, where you have no advance plans regarding exact locations, accommodations or transportation but I have always felt too afraid that I would spend too much time figuring all that stuff out and not enough time enjoying myself.  However, I had no such qualms on this trip.  Maybe because I have a lot more time, maybe because I need to be distracted right now.  I am not sure but so far I am planning about 5 to 10 days in advance.  This blog is mostly to keep my friends and family up to date on my travels and to try to create lasting memories from this amazing time in my life and also to give recommendations, what not to do and other tips along the way.
